YOUR FOOTPRINT
Footprint also known as footmark
is a mark, print or impression left by a feet on the ground.
Before a foot will leave a print
on the ground surface, there must have been footsteps and these steps and where
they are placed will determine the kind of mark they will leave behind as they
pace and most often these prints on the ground are followed by those who follow
us immediately peradventure the ground is swampy or the path through which we
tread are narrow, because it lessen their stress of finding another path or
where to place their feet when passing through this same path we once tread in.
Those who take the responsibility
of making a path through the wilderness or through un-tread forest are often
refer to as pathfinder whose footprint left by their footsteps will be
followed by others who will later take
through such path.
Now, having known little about
what footprint means literally. What does it mean to have a footprint, are
there any footprint left at all by anyone or there is a need for me to leave
some for others to follow?
All these question above will be
answered in this article and there it’s much needed of you dear reader’s to
keep your gaze on God as he unleash his mind to us and instruct us in this
piece.
What does it mean to have a footprint?
As a believer, to have a
footprint is to leave behind a worthy emulated legacy, to live a life worthy of
commendation both from men and God, to live a life of Christ, to live a well
pleasing life and to live a purposeful life. A purposeless life cannot achieve
these entire things I listed above, why? Because such a man lives for nothing,
he chases nothing and nothing chases him and so he lives the way he likes, he
eats the way he likes, he dress the way he likes, he talks and address others
the way he likes and most often goes where he wish because he is always driven
by nothing.
It takes a man with a purpose to
please the Lord, to follow the footsteps of a greater man that he may leave
behind his own, it takes a man with a vision to purpose in his heart not to
defile himself that he may let his steps become a print on the ground, it takes
a man driven by a tangible dream to flee from immorality that his life may be a
temple through which others might live to fulfill their dreams too.
Hear what Paul said; not because we have power but to make
ourselves an example (footprint) unto you to follow (place your feet into) (1
Thessalonians 3:9)
It takes a man of vision to see those following him even though not visible; it takes faith for man to live a footprint for others to follow
To have a footprint is to make
your life a sacrifice for others not to gain but to win, to let go of pleasure
to find a path of success and relevancy for others, and to make your life a
template through which others measure some certain level of commitment and
success at the expense of your energy. Footprint are often left on ground but
some have been left on the rock, some feet have left their prints on a rock at
the expense of their blood that some might come to stay, the gospel of Christ
was able to spread across today and you are able to know who Christ is today at
the expense of some people’s life and blood-footprint.
And they stoned Stephen, calling
upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit (Acts 7:59)
To have a footprint requires more
than just a desire but a commitment and an ability to give it what it takes, not
in words alone but also in action. (Philippians 3:7-`16).
All of these things afore-written
must be met if truly you desire your footprint to be left behind and you really
want your paths to be tread by others, be determined and courageous.
Are There Any Footprints Left By Someone I Need To Follow?
I said earlier in this piece that
for a man to leave a footprint on ground, he must have determined to follow
some which have been left behind by someone, no one just exist on his own
except God, even Adam had to place his feet on the footprints of God because he
was a complete stranger on the earth surface at his creation. There are many
footprints left behind by some people who are often refer to as Pathfinders in different and specific areas
of life, faith, fellowship, music, religion, lifestyle, prayer, academics and
culture which stand as a template through which others regulate their own
walks.
Every footprint of these areas is
specifically and intentionally left by those who left them, what do I mean?
They willfully let go of their desire and pleasure to let out the names these
things bear today. Abraham left Mesopotamia his father country and his family
to a strange land, he was about sacrificing his only son before god which
stopped him, he obeyed God and believe him to be more than capable of raising
Isaac back to life and it was accounted unto him as righteousness-faith
(Hebrews 11:17-19) Enoch also let go of his pleasure and put his interest in
having a cordial fellowship with God which stands as a basis to intertwined
with the supernatural (Hebrews 11;5) and others like David, the Apostles,
Elijah who in their time found a path through which we tread today to live
righteously.
There are many footprints left
behind by great man of old and if truly you want leave yours behind, there is a
great need for you to diligently follow these paths placing your feet in theirs
which will help you to go ahead of them to tread the path more than how they
have done in their time, Apostle Paul made this clear in two of his admonition
to the people at Corinth and Philippi, stating how he had followed the
footprints of Jesus Christ and also encouraging them to follow and to place
their feet in his own in order for them to live in accordance to what God
requires;
Be ye followers of me, even as I
also am of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1)
Wherefore I beseech you, be ye
followers of me (1 Corinthians 4:16)
Brethren, be followers together
of me, and make them which so as ye have us for an example (Philippians 3:17)
To leave behind a legacy (footprints) worthy of emulations, it’s necessary to tread a path to where you start your own-Klement
Do I need to leave behind a footprint?
As I have said above in this article,
it takes a man of purpose to leave behind a footprint, it requires a dream and vision worth chasing
before you can leave a print on the ground through which you walk in your
lifetime. It is compulsory for every man and a believer in Christ to leave
behind a print of their foot on the ground even if not for anybody but for
their children to walk therein which will stand as a template for them to live
purposefully, to please God and to be a blessing for others but the question
there is which path do you tread, upon which ground do you walk and what type
of prints will and desire to live behind for those following or coming after
you? Are your footsteps worth following, are your footprints worth emulating,
are your paths worth treading? Think!
As a father, what are the
teaching you are giving to your children/wards, what are the lifestyle you live
both in secret and in open place, will they be able to impact your children
positively after your demise, are the landmark you are leaving behind or
setting up done in righteousness, are you not only dropping them in Church
every Sunday and then go to beer-parlor or go back to sleep at home, are you
not teaching them how to be a fraud in future with your embezzling attitudes at
work, are you not part of the rebels at church whose interest is to frustrate
the servant of God, are you not training them to be a drunkard and terrorist
tomorrow? Think if what you are leaving behind is a footprint worthy to follow
after!
Dear man of God,
Does your preaching agree with
your behavior, do you truly have a followers, not on Instagram, Facebook or
Twitter but those who are following your footprints, are your footsteps and
it’s prints on the ground leading men to Christ and heaven? Are the sacred
title (Pastor, Bishop, Prophet, Apostle, Evangelist, Minstrel and others)
attach to your name not just a title with no effect? Do they place any sense of
responsibility on you or you just see it as a means to make name for yourself and
to make wealth, what do you teach these sheep of God in your fold, have you not
claimed them to be your own instead of God’s? Do you give them sincere milk of
God’s word or its just what their itchy ear want to hear you teach them just to
keep them on board, what will people say of you tomorrow after you are gone and
can you tell others and your church member to follow your foot prints? Think!
Fellow young ministers and youth,
Who are you following, what are
the footprints they left behind for you, what is your drive and motivation;
Money, fame, anointing, or fulfillment? Will you be able to walk through that
path you take, will you be able to replicate their good impact, are you
treading this path faithfully, are your conviction strong enough to keep you on
the track, will your conduct and attitude worthy of commendation and emulation
by your fellows or people after you, will others be able to tread that path of
yours and meet it unpolluted with porn, masturbation, immorality, lust,
covetousness, pride, arrogance and disobedience? Think!
It really requires every one of
us to think deeply of the path we have chosen if others will be able to tread
them after us when we are gone.
Your footprint is your identity
and the only thing you leave behind that will engrave your name in the heart of
men aftermath of your stay here on earth, tread purposely and leave them
significantly in accordance to the will of God.
…..we shall pray
